Love this place. Its so comfy, home away from home. Got some great nights sleeps on a really comfortable bed, which were wanted after all the walking and exploring I did. The Beach Bar is within walking distance. I will be back again.

Stayed at the cottage with our dog for new years. A lovely peaceful spot the cottage was so cosy and warm. Sheila was really helpful and there is tons of recommendations. Exactly what we wanted.
Margaret Oct 2023 5/5 (Airbnb) Cosy Cottage
I highly recommend the Cosy Cottage. A beautiful part of the world with lovely walks nearby. Further afield, the cottage is a good base for exploring Sligo, Mayo and Donegal.
The cottage is super clean, with a great kitchen and amenities. It’s warm and cosy and very comfortable. Sheila is a great host, very thoughtful. Thank you.

Shiela was very helpful and the properties really well kept and cosy. I arrived a day early through poor planning and Sheila helpedand made another property in Easky available short notice, The old Police station….also very nice.
The upside-down house is a great space, very clean and has everything you need for a couple of days stay or longer. The beach bar is a short drive, nice walk away and is a great place for a swim and some food.
Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic space, and perfect for two people that want to get away from it all. The apartment was immaculate, and well equipped. I’d recommend anyone planning on walking to The Beach Bar to bring a high-vis vest as the road is surprisingly busy. You’re located a quick 20-25 min drive from Sligo town, and Sligo has some amazing beaches to offer. Unfortunately The Beach Bar isn’t pet-friendly, so you will have to eat outside if you bring your pooches 🙂 Loved our stay, felt right at home.

This was the best time ever in this house.
It was nice, everything worked perfect, the house was super clean and we had a week without rain in Ireland 😉
Thank you Sheila, for sure we come back

A fab place to stay with a group of friends/family. was quiet but east to get to other places especially on the fantastic coast road. Every place we visited were friendly and welcoming.
Sheila was very quick to reply and proactive in resolving a small problem. Was all sorted whilst we were out and about. Perfect!
Sheila called in to make sure everything was OK, very attentive and friendly. highly recommend 👌

We had a wonderful week at Sheila’s house. Everything was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The beds are comfortable, with nice linens and the sofa by the cozy fireplace extra comfortable . From here, the area is great for exploring. The nearby Aughris Bar has good food and we recommend a visit to the nearby Seaweed Bath in Enniscrone.
Bridin July 2022 5/5 (Airbnb) 3bed Main House
My extended family had a lovely stay in Shiela’s house. It is generously equipped with good quality table wear and cooking utensils. The bed linen top notch, beds super comfy and plenty of fluffy towels provided. Sheila knows what it takes to make a stay easy and comfortable. Highly recommend.
Sally- July 2019 – feedback on Tripadvisor – a regular!
We stayed in the cottage for a week at the end of July. We would have stayed another week but it was already booked up so we moved to Sheila’s other holiday let in Easkey. The cottage at Aughris is our idea of the perfect holiday home. It has everything you could possibly need – a bright airy living/kitchen area, a wonderful shower, an extremely (huge) comfortable bed and a big grassy garden to sit in when you get back from your day’s adventures (our little dog loved it). The walk down a country lane in the evening to the Beach Bar on the water’s edge is the best and we would highly recommend it. Sheila is very friendly and helpful and told us lots of things to do. The supermarket in Ballisodare (on the way to Sligo) is wonderfully stocked. Three things you MUST do: walk along Aughris beach, cross the little bridge over the river and walk onto Dunmoran Strand (one of the best beaches in Ireland); drive to Drumcliffe and see the grave of W.B. Yeats (great coffee shop there); take a drive through the Ox Mountains. These are only three highlights – there is so much to do and see. We have booked Sheila’s place in Donegal for Summer 2020!

Teresa – July 2019 – feedback on Airbnb
The Upside Down house was wonderful – beautifully decorated and cosy, spotlessly clean and in a lovely location. There is a nice beach side bar with good food within walking distance. Sheila was a great host – communicated promptly and we knew she was on hand if we needed anything. Would 100% recommend for a coastal stay in lovely Sligo!

Fiona – May 2019 Upside Down House – Airbnb
The house was extremely clean, spacious and within close proximity to the beach. It had all facilities you would need for your stay and is very well located.

Exceptional Rennovation – Tastefully Executed
The Upside Down House at the Landmark is a bit of a gem off the beaten path. An exceptional renovation of old homestead tastefully executed with all the mod cons and comfort -without detracting from the homely feel of the place with its lovely views. Would love to stay again.
Bridget, April 2019 – feedback on Tripadvisor
The Cottage is an instant “I love it!” Very homely, immaculately clean, perfectly sized for couples or a single traveller. A welcoming fire lit in the stove on arrival, had the all important ‘Wow’ factor! Close to Aughris Head Beach Bar (walkable), easy driving distance to beauty spots and the local shop! A truly lovely cottage experience. I would visit again.

Upside Down House – feedback on Airbnb
We spent a week in the Upside Down House – as a family with two teens. All of us totally enjoyed the stay. The bedroom downstairs is very large, so that you have lots of space to store all your belongings. Upstairs, you have a living room with very well equipped kitchen and dining corner. The large sofa can easily be re-arranged to a very comfortable bed for two (width about 160 centimetres). Everything (furniture, kitchen, bathroom, washing machine …) seems to be quite new and/or in very good shape. The Beach Bar nearby serves super delicious food and, of course, Guinness. We chose the area mainly for surfing. Given the wave situation in July, we mostly went to Strandhill (about 30 minutes drive). In autumn, also nearby Aughris Head (2 minutes) will probably be a good spot – or Easky if you are searching for big waves. It was a great pleasure to communicate with Sheila. She is very fast in answering, super nice and super helpful. She looks after everything very carefully and takes care also for small details, as for example nice flowers on the windowsills and in the garden. I can highly recommend this little house!

Family get away

The house was central to a magically winter get away. Travelling with 2 young daughters (9 and 5) and Puppy we thoroughly enjoyed the truely beautiful surroundings with beach walks, cliff walks, mountain (hill) treks and waterfall visits, this coupled with the great base of Sheila’s house made for a memorable trip! Car is certainly recommended and note dogs not welcome in the beach bar, although understandable this would have made the trip even more enjoyable. That said staff were great and Guinness also! Sunday dinner 👍 Would recommend Glencar waterfall, Aughris Cliff walk (dolphins and seals if your lucky) and Knocknarea Mountain walk. Host Sheila was wonderful in supporting our arrival and presents a lovely house to relax in, make use of stove with fuel from fantastic local shop. Thank you Sheila and the residents of Aughris for a lovely and well needed week away.

Lovely House , Great Base
We, a family of 5, stayed in The Landmark for 3 nights and found the house to be ideal for our needs. The house has 3 large bedrooms (one downstairs with an ensuite), a lovely kitchen and a really cosy sitting room with a wood burner stove. The kids loved the big back garden. The location is an ideal base for exploring the local area and further afield. Plenty of beaches nearby with our favourites being Aughris and Dunmoran. The Beach Bar at Aughris Beach is a must….the food and service is great. Enniscrone and Sligo town itself are short journeys away. Our host, Sheila, was very helpful and made our stay both welcoming and hassle free. Overall we had a lovely relaxing break at the Landmark.

We had a great stay here, the place was recently renovated and they did a lovely job. Very clean , big comfortable bed, great open kitchen, relaxing shower, laundry machine wasn’t the best but works, and the gas fireplace was a romantic touch to the living room. Overall a great place

Very relaxing break
Just returned from a three night break at The Landmark with my husband, son and our Labrador. We had a really relaxing time and could not fault the house. It had everything we needed, was very comfortable and it is in a really beautiful area. Sheila was very nice and helpful, passing on details of good restaurants etc and the entire booking process was painless. On our departure day she texted to tell us to take our time packing up which made for a leisurely morning. The area was great for exploring and the added advantage of The Beach Bar within walking distance was a big bonus – great food and nice staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Landmark and would hope to return sometime.

The house was very clean and functional. We enjoyed our stay. Being near the ocean was a plus.

Sheila was very nice to us. She went above and beyond to help me find my second cousin. She even came and led us to her when we had trouble finding her. It was a nice property.

Fantastic pet friendly location away from it all
Had a wonderful time in the lovely 3 bed house. Sheila was very welcoming and helpful. The house is in a great location – 1.8 km from the beach house pub and restaurant and also close to Dunmoran Strand which is a wonderful unspoiled very sandy beach. You would stay here to experience the wonderful views and beaches nearby and it is also a great base from which to visit other nearby attractions. There is a very large secure back garden which was perfect for the very lively dogs we brought with us. There is a stove which gives out great heat. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for good accommodation slightly away from it all. For pet owners it is perfect!

Just a wonderful, clean, quiet location. Close to tons of natural beauty
I hated to leave. This property was just perfect for exploring The Wild Atlantic Way. The home was so clean, and well equipped, it was a pleasure to come home to it each evening. I particularly enjoyed watching the cows across the way lined up to come into the pasture each morning and then lined up to go back to the barn each evening. Don’t see much of that in Dublin! There are pastures of sheep everywhere, and exploring the narrow roads was one of the things I liked most. As Sheila tells you, when sitting on the sofa in the upstairs living room, you have a view across to the Atlantic and beyond. It’s very peaceful! If you are looking for a self-catering location to use as a base – you won’t go wrong with this selection!

Lovely house, great location
The house is clean and comfortable, we especially liked the spacious bedroom. The nearby beach is great for a run or for just relaxing and taking in the views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend staying at the Landmark.

Great stay
We had a lovely few days at the Landmark. The house suited our needs perfectly and was close to some wonderful walks. The beach bar was very handy and Sheila was extremely helpful. Pity about the weather but that’s an Irish summer for you.

EXCELLENT TIME HAD BY ALL
We booked this as a last minute thing and with these type of plans you arent really sure what to expect! We were pleasantly surprised! We got a very warm welcome with a roaring fire and provisions left for us. The house has been recently renovated to a very high standard and a home from home! The rooms were very spacious and well furnished with plenty of storage and the house very modern throughout with a well equiped modern kitchen with everything you could possibly need! Wifi was included which was a great hit with the kids. Plenty of space outside with beautiful views and within walking distance of the beach and local bar/restaurant with fab food and friendly locals. It was an excellent base for surrounding local attractions. Sheila the owner was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful and was on hand to answer any queries. Hamish our dog loved it too, plenty of space for him to run around! Would highly recommend this fantastic house and will definitely will be back!

Nice Place

A nice and wonderful house with enough room to move around, close (2 km) to the Atlantic. The house was cozy, tidy and had everything required for a comfortable stay. Sheila was a kind and gracious host, who worked hard to make sure our stay was perfect. We hope to return soon with our whole family!

Idyllic location along the Wild Atlantic Way Sligo
Four of us stayed in The Landmark one bedroomed apartment in Aughris, Sligo. It was a beautiful apartment with all mod cons and it was extremely comfortable for the four of us, and the sofa bed was great to sleep on. This is attached to a three bedroomed bigger lodging so it would be perfect for a big group or families. There is a huge space at the back surrounded by trees with a lovely view of the OX mountains. From the couch in the living area you get a lovely view of the countryside and sea at window level. This accommodation is only 12 minutes walk from two beautiful clean beaches, Aughris beach and Dunmoran beach, which can be accessed from Aughris beach. On this beach there is a great authentic Irish pub and restaurant called The Beach Bar. There is also a lovely cliff walk on Aughris pier beside that with breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. Overall this is an excellent house to stay in and I would definitely recommend it. It would be lovely in Winter as well as there are stoves in each apartment along with the heating. It is situated in one of the most beautiful scenic places in Ireland. The host Sheila is always willing to give advice and help when needed. Thanks for a great experience in The Landmark!
